Robert Mueller has obtained Donald Trump’s secret letter to Vladimir Putin
Special Counsel Robert Mueller just keeps finding ways to get his hands on the goods in the Trump-Russia scandal. Days ago, MSNBC commentator Mike Murphy revealed that Mueller had obtained a copy of a secret memorandum of understanding between Donald Trump and Russia crafted during the election. Now we’re learning that Mueller has also obtained another written communication between Trump and Putin, and this time it’s of a far more personal nature.
Trump wrote a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2013, all but begging him to attend Trump’s Miss Universe pageant in Moscow. Putin never did attend, but he sent several Russian government figures to meet up with Trump, and that appears to have been the launching point for the Trump-Russia partnership to steal the 2016 presidential election. Now Mueller has somehow obtained a copy of the letter that Trump wrote to Putin.
You have to stop and wonder how Robert Mueller has managed to obtain a letter that would have passed through so few hands, none of them inherently friendly to the investigation. Yet the Washington Post nonetheless says that Mueller has the letter (link). So just who gave this letter to Mueller?
We know Donald Trump didn’t give it to Mueller, and it’s a safe bet Putin isn’t cooperating with the investigation either. That would only leave Trump’s closest handlers who might have helped him craft the letter, or perhaps the Russian oligarchs who control Putin. This means that either one of Trump’s closest people from the 2013 era has totally sold him out to Mueller, or one or more of the Russian oligarchs is secretly cooperating with the investigation. Mueller did indict thirteen Russian nationals last month, likely scaring a whole lot of prominent Russians in the process. Has one of them sold Trump and Putin out? Or was it one of Trump’s own most trusted handlers?
