Donald Trump has screwed himself – and it just cost him
What does Donald Trump hope to accomplish by continuing to falsely accuse Morning Joe Scarborough of murdering Lori Klausutis? Even if anyone believes Trump, it’s not going to gain him any votes – and if the false accusation backfires, it could cost him the votes of some people who are on the fence. But now Trump’s stunt has cost him in another way.
Even after Lori Klausutis’ husband demanded that Trump’s murder tweets be taken down, Twitter said today that it’s not taking any action about the murder tweets. However, in what can’t be a coincidence given the timing, Twitter has finally slapped a warning label on Trump’s dishonest tweets about mail-in voting:
The warning labels are clickable and provide users with the real facts on mail-in voting. It’s still too subtle, but it’s a start. It’s not difficult to figure out that Twitter did this today, after months of having vowed to eventually do it, in the hope of deflecting the criticism it’s facing for not taking action on the murder tweets.
This means that by pushing the phony murder allegation that wasn’t going to help him anyway, Donald Trump has gotten warning labels slapped on the tweets where he’s trying to make the phony case that mail-in voting is a conspiracy against him. This actually hurts Trump, because he was really hoping to make the case that nationwide mail-in voting is too unsafe to be allowed.
