Score one for the good guys
Senator Raphael Warnock has been re-elected. He has defeated Herschel Walker. Now’s the time to take out the party streamers! This was a nail-biter. I thought the counting would never end. But the bottom line is we did it, people. We did it.
The Democrats will have a 51-seat majority in the Senate. And each and every one of you should be so proud. Whether you gave five dollars or fifty, whether your door knocked or sent postcards or phone banked or tweeted — because of you — we won.
And congratulations to Senator Warnock. The vampire has been vanquished. He can now head back to Texas or wherever he chooses to call home and hopefully never run for elected office again. This is certainly a time to celebrate. And to be proud. You see what happens when we work together as one well-oiled machine.
We can move mountains and change lives. We can really do anything we want — as long as we’re a team. The fact that we had a high turnout is because of activism. It really does work. It’s our secret sauce, so to speak.
The trick is — to do it in every election. So thank you, Democrats. Thank you, activists. And thank you, Georgians, for seeing the truth and voting on it. Your slow turn to purple (and, hopefully, one day, to solid blue) is going to be transcendent for you. And let’s be proud of ourselves — very proud — as we go forward.
