Score one for the Democrats

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

If you’ve spent any amount of time on social media, particularly where the conversation turns political, you’ll notice an uptick of accounts encouraging apathy more than anything else – saying in what appears to be a grassroots effort that overall, voting is pointless and things will always continue the same regardless of who wins. Anyone paying attention over the last four years knows that couldn’t be more nonsensical, but these tweets are still growing more than ever, typically downplaying Democratic accomplishments. The reality, however, is that Democrats have made strides on just about every policy issue in ways that were undreamed of just a decade ago.

Healthcare – perhaps one of the most cumbersome policies to tackle – is a major one, particularly since the GOP plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act should they win in November. However, most Democratic governors are taking things a step further, such as Gov. Katie Hobbs in Arizona who is using $30 million of COVID relief funds to buy up the medical debt of over 1 million residents of her state – policies not too different than what’s already been enacted in New Jersey and Connecticut. This is because Hobbs narrowly won the 2022 election and because she has funds made available by the 2021 American Rescue Plan – made possible by President Biden and a Democratic trifecta. The only way to ensure that this debt is eliminated, however, is to consistently vote Democratic in every race. This is yet another reason it’s pivotal to re-elect President Biden on Nov 5.
