Score one for the Democrats
Just about every time the Republicans complain about something and accuse Democrats of doing it, you can guarantee that somewhere along the way, they’ll do that exact same thing they were complaining about – the only question is how long before they’ll use it. Once you understand this, you’ll understand the basis for just about every manufactured scandal in the media. It seems like forever ago, but last year, due to a factory hazard, there was a shortage of baby formula and Republicans immediately seized the opportunity to blame the Biden administration and the Democrats.
Now that Republicans used that issue at least in part to ride their way to control of the House, they’re looking to eliminate one million participants from the current WIC program – one that would deny formula to infants as well as cutting access to fresh produce. If this sounds draconian, that’s because it is – but for the modern GOP, it’s not ghoulish enough. That’s why they also want to gut $472 million from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, denying heating from millions of Americans in the dead of winter.
No matter how hard people argue about Democrats and Republicans being the same, this throws a wrench in that whole premise. These proposed cuts are on Republicans – actively harming the families they claim to stand for in the name of small government and shielding their donors from the IRS. Aside from George Santos, there’s a million reasons why we’re better off without them in charge of anything – and these cuts are a big one.
