Donald Trump scapegoats yet another one of his pals as he circles the drain

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

As Donald Trump’s calamitous and continually collapsing presidency has played out over the past two and a half years, one of the constants has been that Trump is willing to throw anyone under the bus if it means staving off his own inevitable downfall. That’s frequently involved sacrificing his own most loyal people. Now he’s done it again.

Donald Trump and businessman Tom Barrack have been personal friends for decades. Barrack has also been a close political confidant, to the point that Trump named Barrack the chairman of his inauguration fund. But now that it’s been widely reported that the inauguration fund is being criminally investigated for numerous aspects of alleged financial fraud, Trump has decided to cast Barrack adrift.

Trump and his handlers have made a point of telling Politico that Trump is “really upset” about the international financial fraud that the inauguration fund was used for. This means Trump is trying to pin the blame on Barrack for any criminal wrongdoing, which is remarkable, considering that no one has even been indicted yet, and no one even knows if Barrack is one of the people being investigated in the scandal.

For all we know, the Feds could end up clearing Tom Barrack and charging other people involved in the inauguration fund instead – but Donald Trump has already decided to publicly put it all on Barrack, just to get any potential blame off himself. This is how Trump has always treated his “friends” – which explains why the likes of Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort are in prison, and Roger Stone is likely headed there. Nothing good ever comes from being pals with Donald Trump, the world’s most toxic man.
