Donald Trump just decided to scapegoat another one of his own people

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Whenever Donald Trump has a scandal or a failure that reaches a particular level of ugliness, he always tries to make it go away by scapegoating one of his own people and shoving that person out the back door. Since all of Trump’s people are negligent and unqualified to begin with, we shouldn’t feel bad for them. But Trump has just picked a new scapegoat in his coronavirus catastrophe.

Donald Trump has now decided that his own handpicked HHS Secretary Alex Azar is the new designated scapegoat. How do we know this? Trump just installed one of his own loyal puppets, Michael Caputo, as the new HHS communications director, according to a surreal new report from Politico. So what does this mean?

It recently became public that Azar tried to warn Donald Trump about the coronavirus threat but Trump ignored him, and Trump just can’t have that. So this means Alex Azar isn’t likely to last much longer. Donald Trump is now installing his own mouthpiece at HHS to speak on Azar’s behalf, so that Azar and his own people at the agency can’t have any sort of voice of their own.

The move is surely being made in the hope that it’ll prompt Azar to get angry and resign of his own accord. If that doesn’t work, Trump will force Azar to resign later, so he can blame Azar for his own failed handling of this deadly crisis.
