Melania Trump slam dunks Rudy Giuliani

Dear Palmer Report readers,

We all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Journalists will be prosecuted. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.

In that regard we're looking to start funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens or how dark things get. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $2097 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Bill Palmer

Even as Melania Trump is trying to do damage control on her own behalf, Rudy Giuliani is trying to do damage control on Donald Trump’s behalf. Neither of them is having a particularly good time of it. Giuliani tried invoking Melania in the hope of bolstering one of Donald’s key positions. Now Melania is pushing back against Giuliani in rather blunt fashion.

Long-absent Melania Trump hastily reemerged in front of television cameras yesterday, out of place at a FEMA briefing of all things, in an attempt at distracting from yesterday’s report that she met with Michael Cohen to plot against Stormy Daniels. Even as this was playing out, Rudy Giuliani was defending Donald Trump by claiming that Melania believes Donald when it comes to the Stormy Daniels scandal. Suffice it to say that the assertion didn’t sit particularly well with Melania.

Here’s what Melania’s spokesperson told the New York Times today: “I don’t believe Mrs. Trump has ever discussed her thoughts on anything with Mr. Giuliani.” Wow. That’s just cold. It’s far colder than it needed to be, yet it’s probably the truth. Giuliani keeps mouthing off at random, making things up as he goes, in the hope that if he throws enough crap at the wall, something might stick. The question of course is why something like this even matters – but it does matter very much.

As Donald Trump is trying to fend of a series of criminal scandals that are likely to land him and most of his family in prison, and even as he desperately flounders on the world stage in the hope of somehow coming up with some kind of foreign policy victory, the last thing he needs is a public feud between his wife and his criminal defense attorney. While some distractions help Trump, this is the kind that just paints him and his team as dysfunctional idiots.
