Rudy Giuliani wants revenge

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When you’re in the process of being dismantled, it’s never a good sign for you if you’re primarily using your time and energy on revenge instead of survival. Yesterday Rudy Giuliani was subpoenaed as part of the House impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump. Now Rudy is making clear that his focus is somewhere other than where it should be.

Rudy Giuliani, who is apparently still acting as Donald Trump’s criminal defense attorney, tweeted this today: “We are carefully considering our legal options to seek redress against Congress and individual members. For engaging in an organized effort that exceeded their limited powers, under the Constitution, and for trampling on the constitutional rights of citizens by engaging in several illicit plans, carried out by illegal means, to remove the President of the US, on knowingly falsified charges allegations.”

In other words, Rudy is talking about him and Donald Trump taking civil action in court against Congress for โ€“ gasp โ€“ daring to exercise the investigative and impeachment powers that are specifically granted to it in the Constitution. Any such legal action will go laughably nowhere, and yet this is where Rudy is trying to steer Trump.

When you’re on your way down and you’re looking for revenge instead of survival, it means you’re probably not going to survive. If Donald Trump takes up Rudy Giuliani on this utterly terrible revenge-driven advice, it’ll mean that Trump isn’t putting any focus on actually saving his presidency โ€“ meaning it could end sooner than you think. At some point Republican Senators will start to conclude that their own personal odds of reelection are better if Trump is off the stage.
