Rudy Giuliani skips out on his own trial

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Given how much legal trouble he’s in, the best thing Rudy Giuliani probably could do for himself at this point would be to shut up. Every time Rudy opens his mouth he makes an even bigger mess for himself. But if there’s one thing even dumber than not shutting up, it’s not showing up.

Giuliani finally managed to be silent for a day by… not showing up to court when he’d been ordered to. This left Giuliani’s attorney in his civil trial trying to claim that it was a simple mistake, and that Giuliani wasn’t no-showing intentionally. Given that Rudy doesn’t seem to know where he is half the time, this is plausible. But it’s still not something you get away with.

To be clear, Rudy Giuliani’s failure to show up for his trial today doesn’t help him in any way. It’s not a “delay tactic.” It’s not anything. It’s just stupidity. All it does is help ensure that Giuliani will lose this civil case involving Georgia poll workers. In a civil case both sides are expected to defend their positions. By not showing up, Giuliani is more or less forfeiting.
