Rudy Giuliani may have just made things even worse for Donald Trump
Watching the former Mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani totter and stammer is a somewhat surreal feeling. I imagine others may feel the same. Whatever one feels about Rudy, nobody can deny that at one time — many moons ago perhaps — but still in this lifetime — he really was able to string a few sentences together and still sound sane.
Those days are long gone. Alas, for Rudy, he is no more than a joke of a man now, twirling in some imaginary fantasy world that absolutely nobody understands except (perhaps) for him.
And Rudy has come out with a defense of Donald Trump that is so preposterous one might really not believe that he did say it at all. Except that he did. And it’s plain embarrassing. The free-falling former mayor says that Trump might have retained the documents because he was “protecting” them.
I really do not know whether to laugh or to cry at this point. “Really,” Rudy said solemnly, “if you look at the Espionage Act, it’s not really about taking the documents,”
“It’s about destroying them. Or hiding them. Or giving them to the enemy. It’s not about taking them and putting them in a place that’s roughly as safe as they were in the first place.”
As safe as they were in the first place? I am sure the documents were quite safe in a cheap safe with Trump hangers-on wandering around, any of whom might have quickly figured out how to get their meaty little hands on the documents. (This is sarcasm.)
Rudy’s in la-la land. At this point, I am genuinely starting to believe he has officially entered the Twlight Zone. Very few come back from THAT place. Rudy made this statement to NewsMax, which definitely explains a lot.
I do not feel sorry for this man. He has stood before the American people many times, lies and deception running down his pores like dripping paint, showing he’d do and say just about anything to protect Donald Trump.
And now the Trump monster has swallowed yet another victim. Rudy would be wise to keep his mouth shut, especially since he is now a target of the Georgia investigation. But people like him — and Trump — never know when to shut up, which is one of the things that’s contributed to their downward spirals.
