Rudy Giuliani just threw Sidney Powell under the bus

Over the weekend the news broke that Fulton County DA Fani Willis has evidence that Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell criminally conspired with a local official to breach voting machine software. This would mean, among other things, that Giuliani and Powell are about to get indicted.

To that end, Rudy Giuliani’s attorney just made a point of throwing Sidney Powell under the bus, insisting that the whole thing was Powell’s “crackpot idea” and that Giuliani had nothing to do with it. The facts don’t appear to bear that out at all, and instead appear to show Giuliani being directly involved with the plot, to the point of presenting Trump with a draft executive order that would have seized the voting machines. But the point is that Giuliani is already trying to make it all Powell’s fault.

The kicker is that once people start throwing each other under the bus like this, it tends to spur even more such moves. For instance, when Powell sees that Giuliani is trying to scapegoat her for the whole thing, will this make her more likely to try to cut a deal against Giuliani?

Keep in mind that Fulton County isn’t the only trouble these two are facing. Giuliani and Powell were both recently listed as co-conspirators in Jack Smith’s latest criminal indictment against Donald Trump. There is every reason to expect that these co-conspirators will be indicted unless they quickly flip. So Giuliani and Powell could soon find themselves indicted on the federal and state level. No wonder they’re already turning on each other.
