Rudy Giuliani just opened his mouth and made things even worse for himself ahead of his arrest
Rudy Giuliani hasn’t tweeted anything stupid or confessional in nature for a few days, suggesting that either his new attorney has managed to muzzle him, or perhaps Rudy still hasn’t recovered from flying around Ukraine in search of imaginary evidence in an imaginary conspiracy. Unfortunately for Rudy, he’s been running his mouth in the real world, and it’s coming back to bite him.
Buried pretty deep in a lengthy new Washington Post article, we find this nugget: “Giuliani has bragged to other Trump allies that he has made millions of dollars since the president took office, according to people familiar with his comments.” This is important, for a few reasons which could soon come home to roost.
First, it’s the latest reminder that Rudy just doesn’t know when or how to shut his mouth. He’s been making these “millions of dollars” by criminally abusing his position as Donald Trump’s lawyer to get foreign entities to put him on their payrolls. Rudy is on the verge of being arrested for his international dirty money grab, and yet he’s busy bragging about how much money he brought in while being illegally on the take. Second, with the revelation that Rudy is flat broke, it raises questions about just how quickly he’s been burning through the money he’s been bringing in, and who all he might owe money to.
Third, the WaPo only obtained this piece of information because someone wanted it out there. This means someone in Donald Trump’s inner circle is now leaking to the media that Rudy Giuliani has been bragging about how much dirty money he’s made while using Trump’s name. In other words, Team Trump is continuing to throw Rudy under the bus ahead of his arrest.
