Rudy Giuliani just got squeezed

For awhile now we’ve had to hear over and over again that Donald Trump and his people would just “run out the clock” and magically get away with all their crimes. There’s never been a realistic explanation of how this magic “run out the clock” game would work; it’s just a slogan that the media and pundit class uses to manipulate your fear and outrage.

There have been few better examples of this than when Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis subpoenaed Donald Trump’s co-conspirators including Lindsey Graham and Rudy Giuliani to testify in her criminal probe, and they responded with court filings asserting that they weren’t legally compelled to testify. “Run out the clock, run out the clock.”

But if you want proof that “run out the clock” isn’t a real thing, you need look no further than the fact that Rudy Giuliani indeed spent six hours today testifying to the grand jury. All of Rudy’s court filings, stall tactics, and weird stunts claiming he was too frail to get on an airplane, didn’t save him. It didn’t even really delay things. So much for “running out the clock.”

Keep in mind that several days ago, prosecutors reportedly informed Giuliani that he’s not a witness in this criminal probe, but a target. This means prosecutors intend to criminally charge him. We’ll see if he tried to defend himself by spewing conspiracy theories during his testimony, or if he took the fifth, or what. But so much for the notion that he could just magically stall his way into not testifying; prosecutors managed to squeeze him after all. Lindsey Graham will end up having to testify soon as well.
