New developments have begun surfacing in Donald Trump’s criminal scandals at such a rapid pace, it’s become difficult to predict which scandal will produce the next bombshell. But that’s okay, because Rudy Giuliani just pointed us in the right direction – by telling us what’s about to happen next in exact words. It’s not as if his words are any more coherent than usual, but he’s nonetheless given the bombshell away.
Here’s what Rudy Giuliani tweeted on Saturday night: “Stay tuned as the Cohen-Davis team is rumored to be getting ready to release more surreptitiously recorded conversations. By the time Davis is.” Believe it or not, that’s how his tweet ended – and his next tweet a minute later started on a different train of thought: “Press saying today that Lanny Davis is getting ready to leak more of his client’s surreptitiously recorded tapes. All you’re doing is destroying Cohen’s credibility and his usefulness as a witness and his career as a lawyer. Get some competent legal advice.” This tells us a lot.
First, it tells us that Rudy is even more frantic and confused than ever, as evidenced by his inability to complete a sentence. It also tells us that Rudy thinks this next tape is particularly damaging to Donald Trump, or he wouldn’t be publicly begging Michael Cohen not to release it.
Rudy Giuliani and Donald Trump have no way of knowing which tape Michael Cohen might release next, but Trump knows every incriminating conversation he’s ever had with Cohen. It stands to reason that, as Cohen’s anger and desire for revenge builds, he’ll release progressively more damaging tapes of Trump. For now all we can do is wait for this next tape to surface. But thanks to Rudy’s stunningly incompetent mouth, we now know what’s coming, and who is coming from.
