Donald Trump comes off as half dead in disastrous Rose Garden press conference
Donald Trump abruptly called a press conference in the White House Rose Garden today for reasons that are still entirely unclear. He didn’t really announce anything. He had no apparent agenda. He just seemed like he’d grown frustrated and he wanted to babble on camera about it.
Unfortunately for Trump, he can’t even remember his own talking points these days. Trump insisted today that Americans are feeling really good about where the country is heading, which of course stands in direct odds with the polling that says nearly all Americans on all sides think the country is going off the rails.
More importantly, Trump looked like absolute hell today. He looked worn and wobbly. He sounded defeated, confused, and mostly not really there. If Trump’s handlers were doing their jobs, there’s no way they would have let him go out in public in this condition and mindset.
Of course with such a deficit in the polls, they can’t exactly just keep Trump locked up in his bedroom until election day. But at one point there appeared to be flies buzzing around Trump’s head today, and if that isn’t a metaphor for his dying carcass of a presidency, we don’t know what is.
