Ron DeSantis is painting himself into a corner
Victory is sweet. In politics, it is all about winning. Sometimes we don’t. But often, we do. How does winning make you FEEL? For me, I feel radiance as golden as sunlight. I feel jubilation as magnificent as the azure sea. I feel euphoria as mighty as the most incredible pyramid. It is an almost incomprehensible feeling.
And I want to feel that way in November. I want to win it ALL.
And I want to send Non-Governor Ron DeSantis packing.
The Florida House has just passed its new Congressional map. Not only is it almost laughably gerrymandered it also strikes a blow to black people by erasing a seat held by a black democrat.
DeSantis drew this map. It’s Jim Crow 2022. There were actual screams of anguish as this map passed. I watched. I heard them. We have a lot of work to do. And we must do it unflinchingly. There were protests — not that they did any good. For right now — this is DeSantis’s Florida — a Florida he seems content to take to ruination.
My friends, we cannot let this happen. We must not only vote but sign up new voters. We must get out the vote, and we must have all hands on deck.
State Democratic representative Yvonne Hinson was speaking of the Voting Rights Act when her microphone was cut. They CUT her microphone after declaring her time was up. The chants started. “We will not be denied,” they sang out.
The stupidity and cruelty of DeSantis burns. It really does. But it also inspires. It galvanizes. And it makes me yearn for Floridians to give this hateful Non-governor who honestly seems to come from a different time period — the boot.Let’s do it. Let’s vote out Ron DeSantis.
