Ron DeSantis completely melts down

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The thing about being a corrupt Republican politician, even a wildly corrupt one, is that there are certain things you’re just not supposed to say out loud. Trump routinely tested those boundaries, with mixed results (he lost reelection by seven million votes). Now Trump’s sidekick, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, is having a much worse time of it.

DeSantis has been trying to be as corrupt as possible when it comes to rolling out the COVID vaccine in Florida, with results so ugly that tons of Floridians over the age of sixty-five are still unable to even so much as get an appointment, even as other states are moving on to Phase 1C.

When DeSantis was confronted yesterday over his corrupt rollout in Manatee County, the smart move would have been to simply pretend that there was nothing corrupt or inept about it. Instead, DeSantis melted down. He threatened to pull the vaccination clinic entirely, which is a really stupid thing to say out loud.

Ron DeSantis is probably more deeply in over his head than any other failed Republican Governor, and making things worse for him, he doesn’t have the sense to cover his tracks. His attempt at sounding Trumpian, by threatening to get rid of the vaccination clinic, is the kind of thing that’ll be used against him heavily when he’s up for reelection in 2022. It’s crucial that he lose that election.
