Roger Stone is now threatening to screw up the 2024 presidential election for the Republicans

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Roger Stone is facing a multimillion dollar suit by the Department of Justice, even as he waits to find out whether the Feds end up criminally charging him in the Capitol insurrection or any of his various other scandals. That’s right, even with what Trump pardoned Stone for, Stone is still facing significant legal trouble. Now Stone is lashing out in a particularly odd way.

Stone has apparently figured out that Donald Trump isn’t going to be a part of the 2024 presidential election (duh), and so he’s threatening to throw his weight behind a Michael Flynn candidacy. Yep, you read that right – we’re talking about the same Michael Flynn who is a convicted felon and who helped incite the Capitol attack.

Here’s the thing. Michael Flynn would have literally zero chance in the 2024 Republican primary. So if he’s going to run, it’ll have to be third party. In such case, Flynn would only take votes away from the Republican nominee, not the Democratic nominee. So the Stone-backed Flynn stunt candidacy would only serve to increase the odds of the Democrats winning.

Of course Stone is likely past the point of caring how the 2024 election plays out. At this point his stunts are all about creating short term revenue opportunities for himself, so he can pay the bills from his worsening legal situation. But if Stone’s stunt prompts Flynn the lunatic to go ahead and actually run as a spoiler in 2024, then Stone may do real harm to the Republican Party’s chances. Not that he cares.
