Roger Stone hits the panic button after January 6th video of him emerges and his driver cuts a plea deal
Earlier this week, for the first time, one of the numerous Oath Keepers leaders who have been charged with seditious conspiracy decided to cut a cooperating plea deal. The Oath Keeper in question just happened to be Roger Stone’s driver leading up to the January 6th Capitol attack. Shortly thereafter, documentary makers gave the media previously unreleased footage of Stone which helps incriminate him in the January 6th seditious conspiracy.
This one-two punch all but ensures that Roger Stone will end up criminally indicted by the Department of Justice. Stone seems to fear this as well, if his panicked response to the news is any indication. Stone is now telling the Daily Beast that he had no idea the Capitol was going to be stormed and was not involved in the plotting, and was instead strictly focused on trying to convince members of Congress to overthrow the election result. Of course the latter was also a crime, so Stone isn’t helping himself much here.
Notably, Stone is going out of his way to try to distance himself from his own Oath Keeper chauffeur, insisting that he was “never in my hotel suite,” as if that mattered. He’s also trying to distance himself from the founder of the Oath Keepers, who has also been charged with seditious conspiracy, but remains in jail while awaiting trial.
