Right wingers hit the panic button as Supreme Court abortion memo leak backfires on them

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The leaked draft of Roe v. Wade has brought catastrophic fallout for the right – with their desperate spin about it being the leaker no longer a target of news interest. As the country awaits the SCOTUS decision – with trust in that institution as a whole rapidly eroding and Democrats engaged across the country – winning recent lower level elections and driving up voter registration.

To give an idea of how bad it’s gotten, anti-abortion groups across the country are now finding themselves forced to “pivot” on the issue – calling for lawmakers to not criminalize abortion at least until the ruling. It’s already succeeded in getting Louisiana to pull a bill that would classify abortion as homicide.

This is good news that should give us momentum – even if it’s a largely temporary function that they’re doing so they can pretend they haven’t been actively cheerleading the overturn of Roe v. Wade for the last five decades – along with a number of these laws already on the books in fairly red states.

What is clear is that there is no good answer that Republican candidates can give – thanks to the failure of their alleged moderates in the Senate to vote for reproductive rights, so it stands to reason that each one be forced to answer how they will account not only for protecting Roe v. Wade but all of the disastrous consequences that would come with it. The enemy is showing their weakness – let’s do what we can to drive up voter registration and turnout and fight to win.
