Right wing state legislatures are spiraling out of control
When Republican men gaze at women, they do not see women. They do not see free and irreverent beings with sunlight in their hair, do not understand the dazzle of female smiles, and cannot understand the beauty of that wonderful thing we call independence.
No, they see strange creatures who scare them and reduce them to dust. They see instead mocking Medusas who will not be controlled. They see no images of unwavering beauty, or rose petals blooming with freedom. They only see darkness, beings that require captivity, like Medusa herself, beings to be controlled, condemned, and left not to flourish but to dry up. This is the GOP world of misogyny.
More and more bills are coming out and being suggested having to do with taking away a woman’s right to keep control of her own body. Allow me to tell you about some of them.
In Texas, a pre-filed bill would, if passed, make it illegal for people to provide any type of information about how to access Mifepristone and other abortion drugs. This bill would also make internet providers block access to sites offering these services from people in red states.
Another bill in New Hampshire would put an end to what they call; “abortion trafficking”. So someone could be punished, for example, for helping a minor access abortion care. Look, all of these things will remain until enough Republicans are voted out.
They are not going to change their ways. There are other bills, some of them so insane that they’ll never actually pass, but the point is that Republicans don’t SEE women. They’ve dehumanized them. They won’t stop because, for republicans, the female person is a bug under a microscope, and they’re the crazy, mad scientists.
We are going to need fundamental change to stop this onslaught of more insane, dehumanizing bills. So let’s set our sites on the midterms and get as many democrats elected as possible.
