Robert Mueller now has Donald Trump right where he wants him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It is now clear what sent Donald Trump off the deep end resulting in more “Witch Hunt” tweets this weekend. Special Counsel Robert Mueller is playing with Trump and has him right where he wants him. The New York Times reported on Saturday that The Special Counsel’s office delivered to the White House a list of questions that will be used as a starting point if and when Trump sits down across the table from Mueller for an interview. Simply seeing a few questions must have been enough to enrage Trump, driving him to lash out the only way he knows how – on Twitter.

Trump is clearly not the only one feeling the pressure. His lawyer, John Dowd, made the rare statement on Saturday calling for Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is overseeing the Mueller investigation following the recusal of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, to promptly end the probe into Trump-Russia interference in the election. With more and more Republicans in Congress making similar requests every day, it is clear that many are feeling the heat, but it is too late to save Trump or themselves.

As a former Director of the FBI, Mueller is an accomplished detective and prosecutor. As a narcissistic chronic liar, Trump is only well learned in the art of fallacies. While Trump is clearly feeling desperate, knowing his time with Mueller is near, it’s likely that Mueller is toying with him. Mueller clearly already knows the answers to the questions that were provided. He also knows that Trump’s many lawyers will spend days trying to come up with suitable responses.

However, those are just the starting points. Based on how Donald Trump answers those initial queries, Robert Mueller will be ready with follow-up questions that Trump will have to answer on the spot. This is where Trump will resort to the only thing he knows – lying through his teeth with no concern for the consequences of his statements. And that is when Mueller, keeping a poker face as to not let on that his trap has been successful, will be smiling and chuckling to himself, but only in his mind.
