Rick Wilson just stomped all over Donald Trump
Yesterday, Rick Wilson and his anti-Trump republican group the Lincoln Project released a TV ad that quickly went viral. Donald Trump began ranting about it at around one in the morning, in a jarring meltdown that included a seemingly endless number of targets and juvenile insults. This was a sign that the TV ad really got to him. Wilson appeared on the Lawrence O’Donnell show tonight to rub it in.
Wilson explained on air that Donald Trump is trying to find a way to turn the leaders of the Lincoln Project into pariahs within the Republican Party. But instead of causing trouble for them, Trump’s meltdown has instead made their job easier, because now they know precisely what kind of ad gets under Trump’s skin the most throughly.
Rick Wilson also revealed that his group already has another TV ad lined up that it believes will get even further under Donald Trump’s skin. Steve Schmidt, another leader of the Lincoln Group, tweeted this: “This ad has unnerved and rattled the unsteady hand of Donald Trump. He was played by the Chinese over Covid-19. He failed to protect the country and now 70000 are dead and the American economy is shattered. He has failed the test of history. His legacy will be failure.”
