Rick Scott moves on
When a half dead and three quarters senile Donald Trump managed to read some of the words correctly off the teleprompter at CPAC this weekend, and then a straw poll revealed that barely half of attendees want Trump as their first choice in 2024, it sent a pretty clear signal that the Republicans are finished with Trump.
If you don’t want to take our word for it, just ask Rick Scott. He’s a highly corrupt and worthless Republican Senator from Florida. Before that he was a highly corrupt and worthless Governor of Florida. Before that he was a highly corrupt and worthless CEO in the health care industry. You get the idea. He’s the worst of the worst and brings nothing to the table. But he’s survived all these years, and continues failing upwards, because he always seems to understand which way the political wind is blowing.
Even as Trump was flaming out at CPAC, and CPAC was preparing to move on from him, Rick Scott made a point of going on Fox News and insisting that Joe Biden “absolutely” won the 2020 election “fair and square.” Scott is one of the most dishonest people in all of politics, so why would he admit to such a truth?
Rick Scott clearly understands that by the time he’s up for Senate reelection in 2024, Donald Trump will already long ago have fallen by the wayside. Further, any Republican who wants to actually win anything in 2024 won’t get anywhere by pushing the tired rhetoric that the 2020 election was somehow rigged. Scott understands this, and he’s looking to get out ahead of it already. The savvier Republican con artists are incrementally moving on from Trump and his grievances already.
