Rick Perry just got some really bad news

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman testified to the House impeachment inquiry today about Donald Trump’s Ukraine crimes, it was obviously devastating to Trump. It also meant that yet another witness was disputing the sworn testimony of Gordon Sondland, making things very ugly for him. But today’s testimony also turns out to be particularly bad for Rick Perry.

Rick Perry is the guy who announced he would cooperate with the House impeachment inquiry, then leaked that he was resigning from Trump’s cabinet, then Trump tried to scapegoat him, then he resigned, then he decided not to cooperate, then he told the media that he wasn’t involved in the Trump-Ukraine quid pro quo, and no one really believed him.

Rick Perry is best known for his “oops” moment, so perhaps it’s not surprising that – oops – he just got caught having lied about his role in the Trump-Ukraine scandal. Based on what’s publicly surfaced about Colonel Vindman’s testimony, Politico was able to piece together that Perry was in the room when Vindman confronted Sondland about the quid pro quo. This is a huge problem for him.

This means that Rick Perry was lying to the media when he said he wasn’t involved. Lying to the media isn’t against the law. But this backs Perry into the kind of corner where, if he doesn’t soon flip on Donald Trump and come clean to the House impeachment inquiry, he can expect to end up in prison after Trump is gone. Rick Perry is having a bad day. Oops.
