One sure sign that a villain thinks he’s going down: he starts blaming his underlings for his downfall, and he starts openly fantasizing about taking out his revenge on them. For weeks Donald Trump has been openly whining about how Bill Barr hasn’t done enough to save him. Now Trump is throwing a whole host of his own people under the bus.

Trump and his remaining loyalists have leaked to Axios that if he wins the election he plans to fire the FBI Director, the CIA Director, the Secretary of Defense, and maybe the Secretary of Education as well. What’s remarkable is that this is what Trump is focusing on with just eight days to go, in an election that he’s currently losing by ten points. Instead of trying to come up with a way to win, Trump is sitting around fantasizing about firing the people he’s blaming for his downfall.

Here’s the crazy part: why leak something like this? It’s one thing for Trump to waste these final days on revenge fantasies. But does he think that by putting it out there that he plans to fire all these people, it’s somehow going to make them want to be more loyal to him during these final eight days? This is just pathetic. It also shows how badly Trump is unraveling, and why we have to work harder on voter turnout, to make sure Trump has no chance of winning.
