Here’s the thing everyone missed about Sarah Huckabee Sanders getting thrown out of a restaurant
Controversy erupted today after White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was thrown out of a restaurant because she works for racist bloodthirsty monster Donald Trump. She’s trying to play the victim, and it’s backfiring on her, as she’s getting trashed across social media, and the restaurant in question is receiving a nationwide outpouring of support. But there’s one detail here that’s being overlooked.
Best anyone can tell, Huckabee Sanders is the one who made this a public controversy. The restaurant owner alone didn’t turn this into a major controversy. And it wasn’t as if some witness made a viral post about it online. Instead it was Huckabee Sanders herself who made this into a huge scandal by announcing it to the world – from the bully pulpit of the official White House Press Secretary account, no less. Why does this matter?
I’ve spent the afternoon trying to think of any possible rationale Huckabee Sanders might have had for wanting to use this as a distraction. But there isn’t one. This couldn’t have served as a distraction from the Trump regime’s immigrant child cages, because based on the timing, everyone can figure out that this was the issue that prompted the restaurant to throw her out. So if anything, her tweet put more focus on the child cages. Besides, Trump wanted the focus today to be on his all-star rally of jerks in Nevada. Sarah stole his thunder.
The only reason for Sarah Huckabee Sanders to have made an issue out of this is that she wanted revenge on the restaurant, and she didn’t put any thought into the impact it might have on her or the adminstration, or whether it might backfire and help the restaurant. She must be at her wit’s end. As we’ve documented, she’s barely been doing the Press Secretary job (few tweets and even fewer briefings) since the CBS report that she was planning to resign. Trump’s people are losing it, lashing out, and making this worse for themselves as their ship sinks.
