“RESIGN NOW” – pressure mounts for Donald Trump’s resignation in wake of negligent homicide scandal

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

At long last we finally have proof – out of Donald Trump’s own mouth on tape no less – that he was purposely lying to the American people about the coronavirus crisis from the start. This means that Trump wasn’t merely incompetent, he was criminally negligent in the deaths of nearly 200,000 Americans. That’s felony negligent homicide.

The bombshell news from Bob Woodward has set off a firestorm of backlash, outrage, and calls for Donald Trump’s resignation. Everyone from Joy Behar, to Eliza Dushku, to former Trump supporter David Weissman, has begun tweeting “RESIGN NOW” at Trump.

Do we expect Trump to resign over this? No. He knows he’s headed to prison once he’s no longer in office, so the only motivation he’d have to resign at this point would be in exchange for criminal leniency in a plea deal. Trump doesn’t seem coherent enough to understand that a resignation plea deal would be his best option at this point.

But when the national conversation two months before the election is about whether the sitting President should resign immediately for committing felony negligent homicide, it means things aren’t exactly going well for him.
