Republicans look for a Hail Mary

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The Republicans have a problem. It’s the quality of some of their candidates. It’s all the things getting in the way of their candidates winning. It’s the sound of white noise.

Republican donors are reportedly panicking because some of their Senate candidates are floundering badly. And many donors are counting on Moscow Mitch to save these candidates from drowning completely. Such candidates include Mehmet Oz of New Jersey, JD Vance of Ohio, and Blake Masters of Arizona.

So these donors, instead of donating directly to the candidates themselves, are donating instead to a super PAC that is closely aligned with the turtle. I am not so sure this is a good idea. I say that because The Senate Leadership Fund has canceled many a television ad made by these same candidates.

For example, Blake Masters in Arizona has seen the loss of money from this fund because they have canceled most of his television bookings in Arizona. Bur donors are still ever-hopeful that Mitch can “save” the candidates.

GOP Fundraiser Jack Oliver had this to say: “Leader McConnell will save the GOP candidates that Trump endorsed.”

“He is focused,” Oliver continued. “And doesn’t let the noise get in the way.”

Ah — noise again. There is A LOT of noise getting in the way, unfortunate as that might be for the GOP and Moscow Mitch.

After all, McConnell has said several times that Republicans might not regain hold of the Senate. Now that just might be Moscow Mitch managing expectations. But if his candidates were ahead, he wouldn’t need to do that now, would he?

The bottom line is the GOP’s Senatorial candidates are on the wrong frequency. THAT is why they’re doing so horribly. They’re completely out of touch with the norms and values of the American people.

Mehmet Oz, Herschel Walker, JD Vance — they are caricatures who should be way ahead in their states but aren’t because most people can’t hear beyond the static and do not know what these candidates are talking about.

So as these frantic Republican donors look to Mitch to save their chosen few, I’d say — don’t hold your breath. You picked em. They are YOUR candidates and your responsibility. And there is an excellent chance they will lose.
