Republicans can’t even get early voting right

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

I carry in my soul a wonderful dream, a tantalizing rainbow of good fortune, a sincere wish for something that may happen, a grand treasure trove waiting to be found by national news outlets. That would be are millions upon millions of envelopes, ballots, and names—names of voters who did early voting and filled the coffers with the jewels of democracy—with the names of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

I long to turn on the news on election night and hear: “The numbers look incredible – for the Democrats.” “Scores of people voted early.”

Early voting. It is our ace-in-the-hole, our fortress that Republicans, try as they might, can’t begin to break through. Case in point: It is being reported that Republicans are desperately trying to up their early voting efforts, knowing, of course, that WE have the edge in that regard.

However, as reported by Politico, “Trump keeps getting in the way.” Poor, poor Republicans! It seems they have a wish, too, but it’s being ground to bits by their own candidate. Republicans are trying to get their people to the polls early. They’re even pouring money into the effort.

But they’re getting angrier and angrier because Donald Trump keeps getting in the way and screwing up their efforts. Trump has:

Called early voting: “stupid.”

He continued his lies that early voting is fake voting.

Many early voting ballots in Pennsylvania are suggested by Trump to be “fraudulent.”

Continues to vilify virtually everything about the early voting process.

That has the GOP shaking in their fake news shoes because their money is going to be wasted since they won’t be able to get their people out to vote early if their nominee keeps disparaging the process they want to see work.

What a paradox for Republicans! David Urban is a former Trump advisor who expressed his dismay at what is happening, saying it is counter-productive.”

“We’re kind of pushing a message, and then the president comes and says, ‘I’m not so big on that.'”

I have a wish, a dream I carry in my soul. That wish is that our early voting efforts not only rock the vote but cause an earthquake. We’re well on the way to achieving this most precious dream. Because you know what? Everything, EVERYTHING the GOP touches, turns to shit, and that includes their early voting efforts. And they have their master, Donald Trump, to thank for that.
