Republicans are facing an ugly mess in the midterms

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

You have heard, I am sure, of the phrase “consorting with the enemy.” It is never a good thing to consort with the enemy. But this is something Republicans have not just flirted with. They appear to have gone all in.

Their alliance with Trump has cost them dearly. It’s cost them respect. It’s cost them many of their own voters who have run from them in dismay. And it just might cost them the midterm elections. “An unholy trinity of bad things.” This is from an article in Raw Story. According to political analyst John Heilemann, this trinity is what is currently encircling the GOP.

“We’re both students of history,” he said to Joe Scarborough. “We got a holy trinity or an unholy trinity of bad things for Republicans.” The January 6 hearings. The Uvalde mass shooting. Roe. As he explains it, the GOP was completely unprepared for all of these things — and for the fury that would accompany them.

The situation has now reached critical mass for the GOP because people are infuriated — and as such, all of the GOP’s wins are now in direct danger.

History will sing its song about the GOP, and it will not be a pretty one. But what has happened in the last few months — as the GOP turns its backs on women — on gun victims, and now on Veterans — will go down in history.

And let us not forget the consorting with the enemy. That enemy is Donald Trump. The GOP still, after all this time, will not leave him. And all of this is promoting what I feel will be the “perfect storm” for the Democrats — and away from the Republicans.

The perfect storm is soon to arrive and is in plain sight. I will end with this. If we put our hearts and our souls — ten times over — into winning this, I truly believe we can pull off the greatest, the most stunning, and the most infinitely satisfying win in political history.
