Republican meltdown in Ohio

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

What the GOP is doing is very wrong. Seeing the train derailment disaster in East Palestine Ohio used for political gain is terribly sad. And make no mistake. That’s what is happening. Many members of the GOP are calling out President Biden’s trip to Ukraine, saying he should be doing more for these Ohioans.

Perhaps one might want to tell Senator JD Vance that. Vance waited ten days before he even put out a statement. The Mayor there, Trent Conaway, had said less than a week ago that he did not want President Biden there because his security detail could cause problems. He suggested a visit from Biden would be “counter-productive.”

That, however, is not stopping republicans from politicizing this tragedy by conveniently forgetting what the Mayor said. The fact is that the people in East Palestine need help. They do not need their lives to be turned into political stunts by ruthless republicans who couldn’t care less about their lives.

This is all a political play. It’s very sad and shouldn’t be happening, but the facts are republicans do this all the time. And the fake concern is somehow worse than no concern at all. Watching Republicans’ faux outrage, one gets the sense that they’re watching actors — bad actors who are auditioning for the role of chief bullshitter.

Trump’s visit to Ohio will not make people love him. The maga will, but they already do. Nothing that the GOP attempts to politicize will help them with the American people. They’re jokes, and it’s painfully obvious that they aren’t above much of anything.
