The real reason Donald Trump is still refusing to get tested for coronavirus

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

During his disastrous press conference on Friday, the only potentially constructive thing Donald Trump said was that he was planning to get tested for the coronavirus. This is crucial, because Trump was directly exposed to the virus last weekend, and since that time he’s appeared to be gravely ill in his public appearances.

But then late Friday night, Donald Trump had his doctor release a statement explaining why Trump doesn’t need to be tested or quarantined. The surreal part is that the letter flat out admits that Trump shook the hand of one person who has coronavirus, and that Trump spent the evening sharing a table with another person who has coronavirus. Setting aside the medical malpractice of this doctor, it’s painfully clear that Trump needs to be tested. The United States can’t have a President who doesn’t know if he’s infected with a deadly virus.

Of course this leaves the overriding question of why Donald Trump is still refusing to get tested. There’s really only one plausible explanation: he’s afraid he has it. Wait, wouldn’t that prompt any normal person to want to get tested? Yes, but Trump isn’t normal. He’s the kind of psychologically broken person who would rather not know he has it, so he can keep pretending he’s fine. Also, he knows his presidency is hanging on by a thread as it is. If it turns out he has this virus, considering his age and existing poor health, there’s good chance he finally could get ousted from office.
