The real reason Donald Trump keeps obsessively melting down over Joe Biden
It happened again tonight. Even as House Democrats are eating Donald Trump’s latest henchman William Barr alive, and they’re coming after Trump himself next, all that Trump can focus on is Joe Biden. Trump is once again flipping his lid over the fact that the International Association of Firefighters has endorsed Biden – something that shouldn’t even be on Trump’s radar.
Donald Trump has spent so much time bashing the IAFF’s Biden endorsement this past week, his fans have created a Facebook group that claims to consist of IAFF members who support Trump. While there are surely some IAFF members who support Trump, one look at the Facebook group in question suggests that most of the members are simply Trump fans who joined in order to pad the member count. This comes after Trump posted more than sixty retweets on Twitter in a three hour span on Wednesday, all of whom were bashing the IAFF’s decision to endorse Biden.
You, me, and the average American all have plenty of respect for firefighters and what they do for us. But does anyone really think that a narcissist pretend-billionaire like Donald Trump truly cares what the “lowly” firefighters think about him? Why is Trump so singularly obsessed with the fact that Biden picked up this particular endorsement? Primary season endorsements tend to be all but forgotten by the general election anyway. Trump’s obsession with this IAFF endorsement is merely serving to boost Joe Biden’s campaign, and advertise the fact that Biden scored the endorsement – and that may be the point.
There are two distinct possibilities here. One is that Donald Trump fears Joe Biden more than anyone else in the 2020 Democratic field, and he’s worried he’s going to lose, so he’s negatively obsessed with Biden and this endorsement – to his own detriment. The other possibility is that Trump is doing this because he wants to push Biden to the front of the pack, because he thinks he can then pick him off.
We all saw what Donald Trump’s obsessive lies and phony scandals about Hillary Clinton did to her candidacy – particularly as the mainstream media piled on by dishonestly playing up those fake Hillary scandals for ratings on a daily basis. Now, even as Trump pushes Joe Biden out front, his henchman Rudy Giuliani is suddenly pushing a phony scandal about Biden and Ukraine. Sure enough, at least one major newspaper is pushing this phony Biden scandal as if it were real.
It’s not difficult to imagine a scenario in which Donald Trump’s henchmen have strategically gotten him to obsess over Joe Biden, so he’ll constantly foam at the mouth about Biden in public, thus pushing Biden to the front, so his henchmen can then use the media to try to take Biden down. Then again, perhaps none of this is happening, and Trump is obsessively ranting about Biden because he truly does fear Biden’s broad popularity. We’ll see.
