After Jacksonville shooting, Donald Trump has crazed meltdown

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s been more than five hours since the deadly shooting at a video gaming event in Jacksonville, Florida. Officials at all levels have made public statements about the matter – except for Donald Trump. Instead he’s busy posting an utterly deranged rant about how the “real villains” are out to get him, because he desperately wants this day to be all about him.

Roughly three hours after the shooting, Donald Trump posted a quote from a pro-Trump propaganda site which claimed that President Obama is getting too much credit for Trump’s supposed accomplishments. This was the most tone-deaf thing Trump had ever posted, considering he still hadn’t addressed the Jacksonville shooting. But what if this was some errant pre-scheduled tweet posted by staff? Trump then went on to erase any benefit of the doubt.

Five hours after the shooting, Trump posted this tweet: “Over 90% approval rating for your all time favorite (I hope) President within the Republican Party and 52% overall. This despite all of the made up stories by the Fake News Media trying endlessly to make me look as bad and evil as possible. Look at the real villains please!” That’s right, he wants us to ignore that multiple Americans are dead in the latest mass shooting. He also wants us to ignore the late John McCain, who has been getting overwhelmingly positive media coverage today. Instead Trump wants this to be all about him.

Perhaps most stunningly, Donald Trump is overstating his approval rating by roughly fifteen points. It’s in the gutter, and he’s simply grasping at fake numbers in the hope of deluding himself into believing that he’s widely beloved. He clearly has no interest in doing the job of President of the United States, and he needs to resign immediately.
