The real reason Rudy Giuliani is suddenly joining Donald Trump’s legal defense team

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s a story so laugh-out-loud ridiculous that we wouldn’t believe it if it weren’t being so widely reported today, and frankly, we still don’t believe it. Donald Trump has reportedly added a new attorney to his legal defense team, and that attorney is… drumroll please… Rudy Giuliani. Sorry, do you need a laugh break? We’ll give you a minute. Okay, you’re back? Let’s talk about what’s really going on here.

To give you idea of how absurd this development is, when MSNBC host Chuck Todd revealed it live on-air to his guest Mark Warner of the Senate Intelligence Committee just now, Warner could only bring himself to laugh out loud and say “no comment.” Rudy Giuliani is an alleged co-conspirator in Donald Trump’s Russia scandal, and therefore can’t really serve as Trump’s Lawyer – although this bunch never has been known to follow the rules. Giuliani is a former prosecutor, but he hasn’t formally practiced law in decades, meaning this is a farce. It’s the timing here that matters.

Giuliani’s wife just filed for divorce, in what was seemingly an attempt at securing her share of the assets before Rudy gets criminally charged and faces potential asset forfeitures. James Comey just released a book which strongly hints that Giuliani is every bit as caught up in the Trump-Russia election rigging plot as we’ve all long suspected. Michael Cohen’s home and office just got raided, meaning the Feds have Trump’s dirtiest secrets. Now suddenly Giuliani is swinging into (absurd) action. There are only two real possibilities here.

The first is that Rudy Giuliani knows the hammer is about to drop on him, and he’s frantically trying to buddy up to Donald Trump in the hope of getting a pardon that’s never coming. The second is that Giuliani has already cut a plea deal, and this is his attempt at becoming Robert Mueller’s man on the inside. Take your pick.
