The real reason Donald Trump is ranting about Michael Cohen

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

On Saturday morning Donald Trump sent out multiple tweets basically begging Michael Cohen, his personal lawyer/fixer, not to flip on him. A few hours later, Trump tweeted about Sylvester Stallone calling him to discuss heavyweight boxer Jack Johnson. At first this tweet seemed weird and out of place but he finished it with “I am considering a Full Pardon!” This was clearly a message meant exclusively for Cohen, telling him that if he doesn’t flip on Trump he will receive a full pardon.

Trump’s early morning tweet storm is likely due to his increasing desperation following what happened in court on Friday. Cohen’s attorney informed a federal judge that his client would likely be indicted in the next ninety days. Brent Blakely, Cohen’s lawyer, made this surprising admission in an attempt to delay the lawsuit filed by porn star Stormy Daniels over her affair with Trump and the $130,000 payoff that Cohen made on Trump’s behalf just days before the 2016 election.

The U.S. District Judge overseeing the case, James Otero, called out Blakely’s request stating “there’s some gaping holes in it” while saying he would need time to make a decision. Blakely attempted to make the case that the Stormy Daniels lawsuit could jeopardize Cohen’s Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination, and requested a ninety day delay.

This request comes off as not so much about protecting Cohen’s rights but instead providing them more time to either make a deal with Special Counsel Robert Mueller or feel out how likely it is to receive a pardon from Trump. Whatever the true reason for Cohen wishing to delay the trial, one thing is clear: Donald Trump is well aware that Cohen knows where all the bodies are buried and if he flips on Trump it is definitely game over.
