Rand Paul just picked the wrong day to be Rand Paul
Republican Senator Rand Paul is one of the more uniquely deranged people in our government. He always talks about protecting Americans from the government. But his actions consistently reveal that his ideal vision for government is one in which wealthy white men like himself are “protected” from everyone else.
For some reason, Rand Paul decided that today of all days – in the midst of racial tension we haven’t seen since the sixties – would be a good time to brag that he’s the one who’s holding up the anti-lynching bill in the Senate. We’re all familiar with his rhetoric by now. He insists the bill would be overreach on the part of the federal government, and he believes in small government, yadda yadda.
It’s funny how Rand Paul only believes in “small government” when it comes to the question of whether the government should protect other people’s rights. We told you he’s one of the more deranged people in our government. The guy is a whack job even in comparison to most other Republicans – and his sense of timing couldn’t be any worse.
