Republican Senator Rand Paul took a coronavirus test a week ago, and when the results took a full week to come in, he spent that week going about his business instead of quarantining himself. Now he’s tested positive, meaning he’s potentially infected large chunks of the Senate, and a number of Senators have been forced to go into quarantine. Now Rand is making it even worse for himself.

When the media reported that Rand Paul hit the Senate gym and swimming pool while he was awaiting his coronavirus test results, he falsely claimed that the media was accusing him of having done so after he got his test result โ€“ so he could bash the media for it, and confuse everyone. This is a tactic commonly used by internet trolls, and well, Rand Paul is the Senate embodiment of an internet troll. Now he’s issued a statement which isn’t helping his cause either.

Rand Paul is insisting that he was justified in breaking the rules by not quarantining himself, because he was breaking the rules by getting tested without any symptoms to begin with. That kind of logic might hold up in his libertarian lunatic land, but back in the real world, this is like arguing that you can’t be held responsible for robbing a bank because the bank’s security systems were weak enough that you were able to cheat your way around them.

At this point there is zero question that Rand Paul โ€“ a former medical doctor who knows better than anyone how this works โ€“ must be permanently expelled from the Senate. Considering how many Republican Senators are now quarantined as a result of this idiot’s behavior, and how many other Republican Senators are leaking how outraged they are at the prick, we wouldn’t be surprised if some punitive measure ends up coming Rand Paul’s way.
