Rand Paul is who we thought he was
Allow me if you will to tell you two stories. One is about good — the other evil. First, the good. It is about a random act of kindness. While dining with friends one day, I was amazed to see my bill had been taken care of — by an anonymous person who wanted to “pay it forward.”
It was explained to me that at this particular eatery, this was common. It almost felt mystical. It did feel delicious. I went back shortly after that — and “paid it forward,” doing much the same for someone else.
And so do the random acts of kindness roll. They’re beautiful trinkets of life. Amelia Earhart said that an act of kindness “throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.” How right she was.
Now let us talk about evil. This country is willing and able to help Ukraine. We do it in many ways. We do it by giving aid. And the Senate attempted to pass a bipartisan aid bill to get $40 million to Ukraine. It was blocked. By Rand Paul.
Now first — this is TEMPORARY. Paul cannot stop this bill. It will be passed. Please don’t worry about that. But a few words I need to say about Paul. This has been a pattern with Rand Paul. Reportedly, he wants a few changes to the bill. This writer submits he wants nothing. Not really. Except to make the process as difficult as possible.
Paul, I doubt would ever “pay it forward.” I doubt he even understands what those words mean — not really — not soulfully. Paul is one of those people I deem “mischief-makers.”
He likes to create problems the way some trolls start internet fights in chat-rooms — because his soul is ripped, and being difficult provides a temporary stitch. The man is likely a miserable person. Remember what he did, playing hide and seek, on the day the Senate was to vote on Ketanji Brown Jackson. Or is always the same old, same old with this man.
One should look at Paul with pity. He is an empty vessel of a person. And he appears mighty proud of it — most likely because he has not one random act of kindness to feel pride over.
