Donald Trump has demonstrated time and again that he’s as corrupt as he is deranged. But he’s also something else: a complete idiot. We can debate whether Trump’s status as a clueless ignoramus has led him to do less or more damage since he illegitimately took office. But there’s no debating the fact that he’s an idiot. On Wednesday evening, Rachel Maddow gave a stunning example which perfectly spells out Trump’s idiocy.

Rachel Maddow used her MSNBC show to highlight a new book written by Peter Bergen, whom she points out is a contributor to rival network CNN. Maddow praised the book for shedding new light and context when it comes to Donald Trump’s behavior. For instance, Bergen reveals that when Trump first took office, he asked his advisers why the massive city of Seoul, South Korea was so precariously close to the North Korean border. He then ordered his advisers to have the city of Seoul moved to a new location.

This sounds like a joke, and it very much is one, but it’s also very real. Trump’s advisers tried to explain to him that a major city can’t simply be moved, and once they realized he was serious and that he wasn’t going to back down, they decided to simply ignore his order. Maddow humorously explained on-air how impractical it would be to move a major city, citing the hypothetical example of relocating New York City to Connecticut: would they simply move Fifth Avenue first?

In any case, Peter Bergen’s new book provides a fascinating and deeply disturbing look into just what a complete idiot Donald Trump is, and how thoroughly his idiocy has colored his illegitimate presidency. You can find the book here.
