Dear Palmer Report readers,
We all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Journalists will be prosecuted. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.
In that regard we're looking to start funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens or how dark things get. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $3360 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Bill Palmer

At one point on Friday, Donald Trump made the surprising move of thanking MSNBC host Rachel Maddow. This was rather surreal, considering Maddow has been leading the way in exposing Trump’s corrupt antics and unfitness for office. But Maddow had interviewed a military General the night before about the Army’s coronavirus response, and Trump seemed to like it.
Rachel Maddow, who is about five times smarter than Donald Trump, used it as an opportunity to educate people on Twitter about what’s really going on. She quoted Trump’s tweet and added this:
Hi, Mr. President — thanks for tweeting that interview. Gen. Semonite and the Army Corps are indeed doing great work, but at nowhere near the scale that is needed. We’re hundreds of thousands of hospital beds behind, months behind schedule, and we’re about to see the number of sick patients surge and hospitals overflow in multiple US sites at once. This is not an NYC problem or even just a city problem. The apex patient surges will not happen tidily, one after the other, they’ll flare up all over, overlapping.
Rachel Maddow actually kept at it for quite awhile longer. You can read her entire excellent response to Donald Trump here.
