Rachel Maddow just pointed to the biggest threat Donald Trump is now facing

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The impeachment trial is already shaping up to be a loss for Donald Trump whether he’s convicted or not. The impeachment managers have done a masterful job of informing the public about Trump’s criminal culpability, thus likely increasing the public’s appetite for Trump’s criminal prosecution.

That brings us to the real threat that Trump is facing, which is prison. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis revealed this week that she’s moving forward with a criminal investigation into Trump’s attempts at election fraud in Georgia.

On her show tonight, Rachel Maddow interviewed Willis about the criminal case against Trump. In our view, this is where the real story is. Trump’s impeachment trial is shaping up to be a dress rehearsal for his inevitable criminal trials.

Trump is now facing confirmed criminal cases in two states, as the Manhattan District Attorney has a widely documented grand jury in the process of indicting Trump on financial charges in New York. This is in addition to potential criminal cases that could be brought by the Washington DC District Attorney, and the Department of Justice.

The legal process moves at its own peculiar pace, but it’s a matter of time before Trump is arrested and put on trial. At this point the only question is which jurisdiction arrests him first.
