Rachel Maddow just nailed it

We’ve all known for weeks that there was some corrupt motivation behind Donald Trump’s obsessive insistence that hydroxychloroquine was a harmless coronavirus miracle cure, when in reality it’s a highly dangerous drug with no known impact on coronavirus. Now the whole thing is finally coming to roost, thanks to a whistleblower who has revealed that Trump demoted him in retaliation for his skepticism about hydroxychloroquine.

This criminal retaliation on Donald Trump’s part means that there must indeed be a criminal reason he was pushing the drug, which his own federal government is now admitting is not the answer for coronavirus. We don’t yet know precisely what Trump’s corrupt angle was with the drug, but we now know that it’ll come out eventually; this whistleblower complaint will force the issue. On her show tonight, Rachel Maddow said exactly what needed to be said.

Maddow spelled out why everyone who parroted or gave exposure to Donald Trump’s false hydroxychloroquine claims was being negligent. Maddow correctly put the main focus on the Fox News goons who baselessly sang the drug’s praises after Trump began hyping it. But she also doubled down on her earlier assertion that these harmful press briefings shouldn’t be aired live. MSNBC is still airing them, so it’s gutsy of Maddow to publicly stand up to her own network in this way.
