Rachel Maddow just nailed it
Rachel Maddow is the smartest and most insightful person on cable television. She’s been leading the way in covering the coronavirus crisis, and trying to help the experts get the correct information to the public. Tonight she sounded the alarm about Donald Trump’s ongoing lie-filled press briefings.
Maddow said this: “If it were up to me, and it’s not, I would stop putting those briefings on live TV. Not out of spite, but because it’s misinformation. If the president does end up saying anything true, you can run it as tape. But if he keeps lying, like he has been every day, on stuff this important, we should – all of us – should stop broadcasting it. Honestly, it’s going to cost us lives.”
She’s absolutely right, of course. Because of her high ratings and widespread respect, Rachel Maddow has a significant amount of clout at MSNBC and NBC News. Hopefully this will convince the network to indeed pull the plug on broadcasting Donald Trump’s daily disinformation sessions, and hopefully other networks will follow.
