Rachel Maddow just nailed it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump’s newly unearthed tax returns reveal that he’s either the world’s worst businessman, or he committed felony tax fraud by pretending to be the world’s worst businessman. Of course if he told the truth in his tax returns, it means he lied to his potential lenders, which is also a felony. Either way he committed a crime; it’s just a matter of digging into the numbers and figuring out which crime(s) he committed.

Rachel Maddow pointed out on her show tonight that as bad as things currently are for Donald Trump, he could very well be about to make it even worse for himself. It was one thing for Trump to privately tell the IRS that he’s flat broke and a terrible businessman. But now that this admission has become public, it’s embarrassing for Trump, a narcissist whose sense of self worth is largely rooted in creating the illusion that he’s wealthy.

Trump is also increasingly erratic and self destructive in his behavior as everything unravels for him. As Maddow pointed out, the embarrassment of being exposed as a broke loser could prompt Trump to blurt out that he lied in his tax returns, and that his businesses actually did better than that.

In such case Trump could be confessing to felony tax fraud, and making it extraordinarily easy to get a conviction against him. Keep in mind that even if he tries to pardon himself on federal charges, New York could nail him on state level income tax evasion. Investigators’ lives will get a whole lot easier if Trump’s big mouth points them in the right direction.
