Rachel Maddow hit the nail on the head with this one

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Words and the images they create can be very interesting. As you know, I like to use metaphors and similes in some of my writings to add creative imagery. But it is not just writing. Even the words we speak can be important. Case in point — Rachel Maddow.

Rachel Maddow of MSNBC is quite well-liked both by her colleagues and by her audience. Lawrence O’Donnell recently referred to her on Twitter as “The biggest star in the building.” Her ratings ate the highest on MSNBC, and her intelligence shines through every night.

So does her sense of humor. And what she said the other night is currently causing many Republicans lots of grief. Maddow was speaking about the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers. This was as she had just finished her show and was handing it off to O’Donnell. The two got into a discussion about the two hate groups mentioned above.

O’Donnell said he was bothered by having to use the names of these groups and wished he had something else to refer to them by. “The oath-keepers don’t believe in oaths that matter,” O’Donnell said. That’s when Maddow helpfully piped in. She explained she always felt both names sounded “really gay.” Ouch!

Then Rachel suggested a new name for the Proud Boys. She renamed them “the Lesbian Avengers.” This caused much laughter (including from this writer), and the name is currently all over Twitter. I would not be surprised if it started to trend.

Of course, some were not happy. But for the majority of folks, they just went with it. And now “Lesbian Avengers” appears to be the unofficial nickname for this hate group. Who would have thought it would be Rachel who came up with the name?
