Push back against the false narrative that’s coming
I am doing something a bit different with this article. I’m writing about something that hasn’t yet happened. And there is a chance the event of which I speak won’t happen. I certainly hope not. But I have a feeling it just might.
My objective with this article is to keep the blood pressure of Palmer Report readers down! And to ask for one thing — don’t fall for the spin. So, as you know, President Biden is mulling over his Supreme Court choices. Soon — very soon — he will announce his nominee.
Reportedly he’s narrowed the choices down to 3 or 4 candidates. I am excited and can’t wait to see who the next Supreme Court Justice is. I imagine you feel the same way. I imagine the media is excited too — but for different reasons. And now we get to the warning.
Once Biden announces his choice — the flashbulbs will pop, the stories will be written, pundits will be chattering endlessly. And some of what they will be saying will not be good. I realize this event hasn’t happened yet. And perhaps it won’t. I’d like to be wrong on this one.
But I doubt I am. Some of those in the media will use this events to divide our nation further. Many of them are poised, pencils in hand, eyes a-glitter, just waiting for the name.
And I don’t want you to let the media bring you down. I want you to be prepared. I’ll give you an example of what will likely happen with SOME pundits. If THIS Justice is nominated — some pundits will start talking about the hard left’s disapproval. If THAT Justice is nominated — it will be — Will Biden get ANY Republican votes? (We don’t need them, but that won’t stop the media.)
Expect many pundits to find some opinion in the past that our nominee gave and expect said pundits to talk about how awful this opinion is. False narratives. They do this because they can. And because drama sells.
Please don’t fall for it. And push back. When Biden announces the name, talk about her. Tweet about her. Talk about how joyous a day this is. And above all, know that whoever the nominee is will be our next Justice.
So, if and when this happens and you find your anger rising… Just smile. Turn away from the drama. Take a deep breath and look out at the night sky and the glimmering stars. And remind yourself — that President Biden — with a little (A LOT!) of help from you — has just made history.
