We’ve entered the punishment phase of Donald Trump’s downfall

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump isn’t getting his border wall. He isn’t getting any new trade deals. He’ll never be popular in the United States. He’ll never be respected by the leaders of America’s allies. This is a guy who is going to accomplish none of the things he was hoping for – and finally seems to understand as much. So he’s doing what most cartoon villains do once they realize they’re going to fail: he’s doling out punishment against those whom he blames for his inevitable downfall.

Some of that “punishment” is only harming Donald Trump himself. British royal family member Meghan Markle is surely just rolling her eyes at Trump’s decision to refer to her as “nasty.” John McCain’s legacy as an American war hero will only grow larger thanks to the Trump regime’s attempts at hiding the USS John S. McCain from Trump this past week. But Trump’s other forms of punishment and revenge are doing very real harm.

Because Donald Trump’s lifelong three-card monte style of doing business hasn’t translated to victories on the world financial stage, he’s decided to simply punish everyone involved. His tariffs on certain Chinese goods are damaging the economies of China and the United States, causing real harm to average Americans in the process. And his new across-the-board tariffs on all Mexican goods are going to be nothing short of devastating for Americans.

None of this is going to get Donald Trump anywhere, mind you. His vengeful insults, petty antics, and spiteful trade wars aren’t designed to win. They’re designed to make life difficult for everyone involved. He’s failed on every level as President of the United States. His only poll numbers that are rising are of the pro-impeachment variety, which means he has one foot out the door. He knows it too – and he wants revenge for his utter failure.
